Consists of 12 classes for the families of persons with serious psychiatric disabilities. These classes represent a new concept and curriculum. In this model, the course co-teachers are family members themselves, and the course has been designed and written by an experienced family-member mental health professional.
The course balances basic psycho-education and skill-training with self-care, emotional support and empowerment. The course welcomes parents, siblings, spouses, adult and teenage children and significant others of persons with these severe and persistent disabilities.
The course is NOT appropriate for persons with mental illness. The course and materials are free. The development of the Family-To-Family program has been supported by Behavioral Health, Inc., and will be taught by trained NAMI member Family Educators.
